La Bonne Soupe or Serafina Broadway

We have a group of 10 going to see the Big Apple Circus Saturday.
We don't want to spend an arm & a leg, especially with 3 young girls who may be a little fussy. I searched a lot of sites and came up with La Bonne Soupe & Serafina Broadway,
because they look varied, resonably priced(for Manhattan), and look like they have a little charm from the web sites.
They look to be within walking distance, as we may be headed back to midtown after dinner. Has anyone been to both, and have a preference between the two?
Or have a similar recommendation based on my comments above?

  1. La Bonne Soupe is reasonable for what you described. You will not be bowled over by the food, but nor will you have to take out another mortgage to pay for your meal.
Basically light sandwich/omlet/crepes type fare..Just avoid the fondue, it's overpriced and pretty dismal. I believe they also have a kid's menu. You'll have a bit of a walk to the Big Apple Circus i(which, BTW, is wonderful) . You'll have a great time!

I don't know about Serafina, but seating 10 *together* might be difficult at La Bonne Soupe, at least without warning. I've never done anything like that so have no idea how accomodating they can be, but I'd definitely call ahead to at least ask. (I don't think they take reservations per se, but who knows.)

With 10 people at La Bonne Soupe (which is the one I strongly recommend), I would suggest you make a reservation beforehand and make sure to request upstairs if possible.

You might also try Angelo's Pizza (make a reservation for upstairs). Great thin crust pizza and family style/size salads. Good prices. They're on 57th Street between 6th and 7th Aves. on the north side
