canadians in AZ
hey there...i am coming down to phoenix with my beau from toronto in the new year and am looking to go out for a nice meal in the 60-70$ per person range with a reasonable wine list......i was looking at the biltmore hotel and have heard some things about a Roaring Fork resto (??) but am really clueless for the most part....if you folks could give me a few suggestions that would be great!
As a fellow Canadian, I would strongly recommend Roaring Fork. We have been there numerous times over several years and have always been pleased. The food is very good and the atmosphere is totally unretentious, as in many places here. I understand that it changed hands not too long ago, but the new owners have wisely left everything as is, or at least had done so as of my last visit a few months ago.
Be sure to try the green chili mac and cheese, and the cornmeal crusted trout is also excellent. Ditto the short ribs.
Tarbell's and Durant's are both great. If you wind up staying at the Biltmore, you could also check out Lola tapas at 800 E Camelback Rd and Trente-Cinq for Belgian food on 7th Street

Roaring fork is a great place, has a nice southwestern spin on the menu. Phoenix is very spread out so if you are staying at the Biltmore (very centrally located) Tarbell's has a great menu and wine list. Durant's is old school steakhouse. There are a lot of places for more casual dining but very good quality in the central Phoenix area. Have a great visit.
