Drinks and small bites to celebrate a milestone

Looking for an elegant or romantic spot to celebrate Wednesday night around 10pm. She likes champagne and desserts. I had thought the lounge area of Danube might be nice - she likes their champagne cocktails. Any other suggestions. It doesn't really matter where in NYC.

We ended up at Danube, and it was fantastic. The butternut squash parfait for dessert was awesome.

The bar at Grammercy Tavern is one of my favorite places to be especially around this time of year. It's so cozy and pretty. Their dessert menu looks darn good too.

Second the Tavern! It's so warm and inviting during the winter and the desserts in both rooms have never disappointed me.

River Cafe or Danube. Both are upscale. Danube is absolutely gorgeous and very romantic. Love their bar area. I had dinner at The Modern recently and found the bar to be lively and fun, not romantic. We were glad we did not have dinner at The Bar. Degustation's ambience would be perfect but desserts are NOT their forte. River Cafe has music, the smell of fresh flowers, views, a nice bar area . . . I have not been yet but Allen & Delancey's bar area looks very romantic.

If you want to wow her, take her to the 36th floor of the Mandarin Oriental's Lobby Lounge or MoBar. Breathtaking views and flawless servce.

I dont think that there are desserts at the MoBar.

I was going to say Town. Or Rainbow Room. (You can set it up with either place where champagne could be waiting at the table.)

Or Bar at the Modern, although I've never been.

Flute specializes in champagne and dessert, and there's locations on both the East and West side.

Thanks - we have been there. I guess I was thinking somplace a little more special. Maybe Picholine or Cafe Des Artistes - they both have a lounge area.
