Try the dining room at the Drake Hotel

As one with a mother of that age (therefore I am persumably old enough to be OP's mother!), let me point out that "Conversation-friendly" may be a huge asset in the experience a hit. Check reviewers' comments on that, and when you make your reservation, be sure to ask for a quiet table! Can't make more specific recommendations until you pinpoint what type of cuisine (and what part of town).

If she's fussy, please at least let the ch'ers know what she likes.

she will eat about everything. prefers a finer dining experience. but does not have to be stuffy

            What is she "fussy" about?
