Bell's Java Stout

Zander Dec 17, 2007 11:47 AM

I'm a big fan of the java stout - only problem is it's seasonal and not many liquor stores carry it (Minneapolis - St Paul). Are there other coffee based stouts worth a try?

Founders Breakfast Stout is the best coffee stout I've ever tasted, by a mile. (I haven't tried Bell's Java Stout -- but the other Bell's brews I've tried were fantastic.)

100% back you up on Founders- best in the land.

Not sure if it fits exactly what you are looking for but Rogue Shakespeare Stout is highly recommended in my book.

Shakespeare Stout was my absolute favorite beer for several years, and it is still among my top ten. Ipswich Oatmeal Stout is my current favorite.

These two aren't coffee stouts, but they do have some espressoish flavors.

Terrapin "Wake and Bake" is amazing and fairly available.

I found Wake and Bake to taste like coffee grounds. I thought the Bell's beer was full of coffee flavor throughout the taste. Of the two, go for the Bell's. It's a great beer.

If Bell's Beer is available in your state, but not at your local store, either ask them to bring it in or find a better beer store.
