Anyone know of somewhere good but moderately priced for lunch in Union Square area?

I love the "house burger" at Stand, which is at 12th and University. If you avoid the busy hours and eat a late lunch (2 to 6, I think, also after 10 PM) the burgers are 2 for 1, which is a great deal.

If you like comfort food, Chat n Chew on south side of E. 17 betw Unon Square West and Fifth Ave is fine..

Gotham has a slightly more expensive (31) but definitely great-value lunch prix fixe. On the much-cheaper-but-still-tasty front, Republic noodles is always tasty.

Tocqueville has a $24 three-course lunch that's a serious bargain. It's on 15th St., just off the Square. Reserve.

http://www.tocquevillerestaurant.com/...> was just about to post the same thing!

I love Tocqueville any time, but their prix fixe lunch is a great bargain!

I agree. Though we haven't done lunch at Tocqueville since the move, we used to enjoy doing the prix-fixe at the old location.

Another great bargain is Fleur de Sel's always delicious 3-course prix-fixe, slightly more expensive at $29.

Bluewater Grill is always nice and right on the square- if you are willing to venture a few block off the square the front tavern room at Gramercy Tavern (East 20th) serves quite possibly some of the best food in town - with a side of warm hospitality - and is absolutely beautiful this time of year- no reservations taken- but show up early and you will not be disappointed.

Thanks v. much aceny, but I was hoping for somewhere cheaper than Bluewater Grill, and I can't show up early for the Gramercy Tavern front room.
