x-mas eve dinner for 4 in manchester, vt?

looking for a nice, fancy ok, casual ok, good food restaurant in manchester for x-mas eve dinner. we'd really like for it to be IN (or VERY close to) manchester as opposed to neighboring towns because we are meeting friends coming from stratton and we are staying in manchester. have read past threads but most rec's were outside Manchester. Thanks so much in advance.

will we be ok at the perfect wife?

    1. I think you'll be fine at the Perfect Wife. I've only eaten in the tavern there (and thought it fine, but not outstanding), but others here rave about the food in the main dining room.

Honestly, I can't think of any place I'd really recommend right in Manchester that isn't sort of standard, nothing special food. Except, maybe Depot 62, which is a middle-eastern cafe that is situated inside of a furniture/antique store. It's on Rt. 11/30, but I would check to make sure they are open on x-mas eve: (802) 366-8229. They have one large table that would probably seat 10-12 in the middle of the "dining" room and several small tables around that, so seating is a bit limited. I wrote up a little review of it here, if you do a search, you should be able to find it.

Thanks dukegirl. Our friends who have a place at Stratton like the marsh tavern at it ok?

Never been there, so I can't say. I do know that, this fall, there was a massive turnover in the chef staff at the Equinox, so that may have an affect on things.

Mediocre... Good burgers, if that's what you're looking for.

        2. You will be more than ok at The Perfect Wife. The chef/owner really cares about the quality of ingredients. We have had many meals there in the past few years (we spend the summers there) and everyone has always enjoyed the vibe and their dinner, even those who are hard to please. It's not a WOW, just a good Vermont restaurant.
