In October, after a wonderful stay in NOLA-where we always leave our hearts-it was on to meet our Kids for the final lag of our trip at Orange Beach.We lucked on to the Shrimp Festival--what a great "food on wheels"venue-way above your standard Corn Dog, Funnel Cake,and Cotton Candy till you want to urp!!
We experienced those little french rolls filled with heaven and can't stop thinking about them.
I know they can be purchased and shipped(I would assume)pre-made--but the "HOMECHOW" in me is convinced I can master the art--I have found a receipe-actually 2 /one says to make a water/flour "glue" to re-attach the end of roll-and that they can be baked rather than deep fried.
I am reaching out here for anyone who has prepared these at home, and for any advise or tips re: Pistollettes.

  1. I have found pistollette recipes on the net but haven't found rolls I felt were suitable. I have used a Bisquick dough, cut 6" circles, stuff, fold over and crimp, then deep fry. Not exactly the same as Rockin' Rogers Cajun Pistols but there were no leftovers!
