Almond chicken cooked midwest style?
I am a transplanted Detroiter now living in Pasadena. One of the culinary delights I miss most of all is almond chicken. In Detroit, almond chicken was battered and golden fried chicken breast strips atop a bed of rice and lettuce, smothered in a rich dark vegetable sauce. Here, it's nothing like that. The chicken is skinless and sauteed and comes with actual almond pieces. I've lived here for 6 years and enjoy it, but despair of ever finding a Chinese restaurant that cooks almond chicken the way I love it. Am I out of luck or is there any hope??
