Croissants in the Quarter

Anybody know where the good croissants and other breakfast goodies (and coffee) can be found in the Quarter? Croissant d'Or is cute and gets the attention but I find the croissants just adequate. Plus, can you think they're serious about pastry and such if they heat 'em in a microwave? (Sorry, fans, just my opinion.)

While I don't know if it is still there, La Marquise used to be a nice pastry shop on Chartres close to Jackson Sq.. As I recall, though, they got their pastries from Croissant D'Or.

As an aside, the biscuits at Eat on Dauphine are some of the best I have ever had.

I can't think of anywhere for good croissants in the Quarter. La Boucherie on Conti and Chartres has good coffee and great homemade quiche, but the pasteries are delivered and, unfortunately, heated in the microwave.

I wish I knew where Maison de VIlle hotel used to get theirs (could have made them at the Bistro.) They were wonderful, shattered crispy shards of buttery pastry with every bite.
