LaGiostra in Monterey any good?

Hi Hounds,
Headed to Mtry. during the holidays. Heard about an Italian place called LaGiostra (sp?). Can anyone out there tell me about it? Thanks!

I guess your mileage may vary. A couple of years ago, my wife and I were staying at the Quality Inn next door, and were so tired of driving we decided to give La Giostra a try because it was walking distance. Now we stay a the Quality Inn BECAUSE it is next door to La Giostra.

I have found the food to be interesting and delicious, and the staff to be quite cordial. We have taken many friends back there, including a New York Italian, who loved the place and has recommended it to her friends.

Don't even think about it. We tried it with high hopes and were sorely disappointed. Bland food and very rude staff.
