I just read about Ortiz anchovies as being some of the best you can get (that is if you cannot buy fresh, which I cannot in MN).
Does anyone have any other suggestions of other brands I should try and where to get them?
The Ortiz I am ordering online unless anyone knows a local place that carries them.
MSP area.

I've heard the best are packed in salt not oil. They are hard to find, I found one shop with them but the can the had looked swollen so I let them be. If you have a good Italian shop around they may be able to get them for you.

I wanted to buy a tube of Giovanni's anchovy paste today for my death - by -garlic Caesar salad, and was told that that product had been recalled several months ago, and they didn't know when they would have it next. I can't vouch for the accuracy of that comment, but that's what I was told. So I bought 3 little tins of Vigo anchovy fillets and I'll smash 'em up as necessary for my DBGCS
