Looking for a good diner in Tampa.
Does anyone have a diner to recommend in Tampa (prefer south tampa area)? I mean a diner like the ones in New England where they serve everything from meatloaf to chicken parm, hamburgers, breakfast stuff, soups, etc. Clearly, not looking for haute cuisine just a reliable and not expensive place where my husband, myself, and our three kids can order different foods (good food) at the same restaurant.

You should check out Nicko's, 4603 N Florida Ave. It's the real deal, so real Elvis ate there before he sang at the Armory in 1956. Along with the usual diner comfort fare, the menu includes some Greek items reflecting the current owner's heritage. I ran into the owners of Mise en Place there years ago, so you don't have to just take my word for it!

re: gypsyrose
changed owners a couple times over the last several months. It is now open 24 hours. Not bad.
Nicko's nearby on Florida Ave. i sgood for breakfast, but i've had terribly overcooked spaghetti and really bad chicken pot pie. I stick to the simple diner food, the greek food, and breakfast.
Pine Grove farther north on Florida is pretty good anbd more reliable.
I'm afraid South Tampa is not diner territory. Time to drive to the wrong side of the tracks.
