Cheap Dinner for 2 in Greenwich Village?
I'm looking for somewhere to have dinner tonight in Greenwich Village. I would like to spend less than $40 for dinner for two. We would like to either have some sort of Japanese noodle house or little Italian place for pasta. Something not commericial, preferably something slightly off the beaten track. Sorry I'm not giving you guys much, but we rarely get to eat out together, so if you have any ideas, anything is appreciated.

What about Indian food? 2nd Ave and 6th St. You can dine like royalty for next to nothing.
If you're not into Indian, what about Polish food? Little Poland has great, really inexpensive (I hate to say 'cheap' but it really is) food. I thought it was a wonderful value Take a look at these reviews.

If you're in the mood for simply French food you might want to check out Tartine on 4th st and 11th street. it's BYOB which takes down the price a lot. It's small, romantic and has great food. The mains are all 10-20 dollars (including things like steak au poivre etc).

I love, love Tartine! It's a great little atmosphere and the food is stellar (especially for the price!)

If you want Japanese noodles, you should hit Sobaya (9th st. between 2nd and 3rd Ave.).

You could do Da Andrea if you are not really drinking wine or anything. Or go to A Salt and Battery. A great fish and chips place on Greenwich Ave, pretty authentic. Cheap and delicious.
