High End Liquor Stores in Providence

I am not sure if this is quite a typical Chowhound topic but I know this is the group with the expertise I need to ask! I want to buy my fiance a nice high end rum for Christmas. Do anyone have any suggestions for a high end liquor store in the Providence area that has a good selection of rums?

In my opinion, the best two liquor stores in Providence are Campus which is just off Wickenden and Gasbarro's on Atwells. They are known mostly for wine and I'm not sure how great their liquor selections are. I'm not sure how far you are willing to travel, but town wine and spirits has an excellent selection of liquors. They are located in East Providence near Scott VW. As a recommendation, I had Zaya rum last night and it was amazing. If you can find it, buy it.

Campus packs a lot in to a relatively small space and is good choice within the city limits. If you are willing to drive to Attleboro, Yankee Spirits on Rt 1 is probably the best liquor store in the vicinity. While not exclusively high end, it is huge by RI standards (the building used to be a grocery store) and has a great selection, as well as very good prices.

Town Wine and spirits in Rumford was always my choice when we had a home in RI. Call ahead if you want to check a specific brand. It's right on Newport Avenue and easy to find.

I would also check out Spiritus Fermenti on the corner of Meeting & Thayer St. They have a great selection there too!

I was there this week. It is nice...Does anyone know what has happened to the Wayland Square wine store which has had a Closed sign on the door for a few weeks now? It is supposed to be nice....

If I wanted a great rum I would go online and have it shipped. I was just in St John, they make great rum in St Croix and I am sure many other places. You just cannot but it everywhere. Good luck!
