  1. I read that the GM also got canned.

Weird. Especially since OM just got named one of the country's top 25 new restaurants.

Is it slow there? I haven't been lately (which may answer my own question.)

How many times to people go to places like Om? It's sure beyond my means to be a regular stop. Whatever, seems weird that RK would leave. Didn't she just have a baby?

newpaper report i read said both chef and gm were fired. boston herald on thurs or fri.

She did just have a baby, and the word (from sources close to the incident) is Rachel and the GM got pretty screwed. Too bad too - I love OM but feel like I can't go back knowing how unfair the management that made this decision is being.

      2. good. Maybe the food will get better and actually affordable

        1. I heard that there are big problem$ going on at OM right now and the reason why everyone is being let go is because they are trying to cut back on payroll. It sounds like they are doing what Mantra did years ago. No more emphasis on food and now on to the Euro crowd. Too bad. I hope they do well. It is a great restaurant.

A restaurant that doesn't focus on food can't hope to be great.

          2. this is horrible news, i never got to sample rachel's cooking due to my work schedule. But i believe that good chefs will always find their way back to the top no matter where they are. Good luck Rachel and I look forward to sampling your cuisine some day in a better place.

She's still listed on their website. Any further word on this?

Not sure but there definitely is trouble with this group. Rengang, their sister restaurant is closed for business. No word what's going on there. Shanti seems to be doing just fine.

And as for Mantra, they actually have brought in some new management to reinvent the restaurant side. They are planning on introducing a naan bar- basically, various dishes served on naan, and other indian breads. Sounds like an interesting concept... although I believe what they are planning on doing maybe somewhat along the same lines as the soon to be opened Banq.
