Salad - lunch spots?

pitterpat7 Dec 13, 2007 09:23 PM

I usually think of Cafe Rani on Magazine when I'm in the mood for a nice big entree salad for lunch. Does anyone else have recommendations around the $10-$15 range that's open for lunch?

St. James Cheese Company on Prytania has delicious large salads for around $10. They have 5 or 6 options that change pretty frequently. Here's the menu on the website:

      I second St. James.

Also, check out Refuel if you're uptown (Cobb, Club, Fish Salad with either salmon or tuna), or Welty's Deli on Camp in the CBD.

Welty's has giant house salads, tuna, curry chicken salad, shrimp remoulade, etc.

Refuel is a good little spot, isn't it? I noticed last week that La Divina has "real" food in addition to gelato; some salads were listed on the handwritten signboard. Sushi Bros has a seared-tuna on mixed greens that around $10-12, which is a bargain considering the amount of tuna on the salad. Reginelli's salads are consistently good, and they deliver, too.

Out in Metry, Martin's Wine Cellar has very nice salads, including specials. Byblos Market on Vets has very tasty tabbouleh--cheap.

I second Welty's. Their salads are huuuuge and delicious.

Blue Plate Cafe on Prytania near Erato in the LGD has some salads and sandwiches that should fit the bill for lunch.

I just had a killer salad at Luke - John Besh's new place. Think it was $11 or $12 and it had at least 6 fried oysters on it! It was the best...competing with Jacquemos (forgive my spelling on that)
