Mamaroneck delivery - please help!

parkslopemama Dec 13, 2007 06:59 PM

A friend who lives in Mamaroneck is about to give birth to twins, so I know she will not be getting out much this upcoming year. I want to give her a gift certificate or something, so she and her husband can have dinner delivered to them. The problem is, I know almost nothing about Mamaroneck! I saw from Zagat that there are a bunch of places (Turkish Meze, Le Provencal, Toyo Sushi, Il Teatro, Sal's Pizza), on/near Mamaroneck Avenue which appear not too far from their house on Crown Court....

Do you know of any decent places that deliver? Or have any other suggestions? Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, hounds.

I don't know if Cosmo and Alex, a salumeria on Mamaroneck Ave., delivers but if they do, your lucky friend -- congrats to her, by the way -- would be well served.

And a gift certificate for a meal at Le Provencal (the best of those you've listed) for when she gets out of the house would be a fine gift indeed.

Sadly, very few of the worthy places in Mamaroneck deliver. Turkish Meze is excellent - no delivery same with Le Provencal (French). Sal's does not. I have to say sadly that with all of the Italian/pizza options in the area they either (or both) aren't very good and don't deliver. Pastas from Pizza gourmet aren't bad and they do deliver but the pizza is lousy. Most of the Chinese places deliver, none are great but some are better than others but I don't think that's what you're looking for.

Toyo however is good and I believe they do deliver and Rani Majal (Indian) is also very good and they definitely deliver.

We tried Rani Mahal last night based on this post (although my husband went and picked it up).

Thanks for the tip...we really liked it and thought that it was better than Bengal Tiger.

Glad to hear it valerie. They have busines there but it does seem slow so many nights and we really want them to stay in business because, not in this order necessarily 1) they seem to be very nice people and 2) the food is very good and 3) we don't exactly have a plethora of ethnically diverse, quality food options around the neighborhood.

We will certainly continue to go there (take out is easier for us at this point in time). It's a bit closer to us than Bengal Tiger, slightly less expensive, and most importantly, we just liked the food better.

I agree not too many options. For regular-type food, try Mamaroneck Diner, they deliver and have good salads, sandwiches, pizza.

Ditto on Mmk Dnr pobo - the panini sandwiches are very good - love the meatloaf especially and the summer salad with a few personal changes - adding gorgonzola and red onion makes it perfect...for me.

Just a follow up from the original poster. We decided to get a gift certificate from Rani Majal (the Indian place). I had lunch while I was there, and it was great. We also got another certificate from the Mamaroneck Diner, just in case the mom-to-be wants to avoid spicy food while nursing. Thanks for your input, everybody!

Toyo Sushi delivers and even got Harry's Burritos (Larchmont) to deliver here to Mam'k.
Ditto on Turkish Meze, they are fantastic.
