Relaxing Lunch Spot in Hollywood / LA area?

  • 5

Hey All,

My brother's flying in to So Cal, and I was wondering if you had any recommendations for a nice, Relaxing Restaurant for Lunch at $20-30 (Max) per person, with good food. :)

Anywhere from the Hollywood area, down and across to the 10 & 405 (near UCLA) at the furthest (we're going to catch a movie at the Arclight later in the afternoon).

I heard Lucky Devils and Hungry Cat are great places to grab something to eat and drink, but are they more like Bar/Pubs?

I was also thinking about Hatfields, but disappointed to see that they don't open for Lunch. :(

Considering a possible good Thai restaurant in Thai Town, or Sushi Ike that's been mentioned a few times.

Thanks for any suggestions! :)

  1. If you're planning on catching a show at the Arclight, I say be in the Hollywood area sooner rather than later.

Hatfield's is a fairly refined dining experience, especially compared to the other options you mentioned. Save it for dinner, and for lunch go someplace fun like BLD, Doughboys, or Bossa Nova.

Lucky Devils and Hungry Cat are perfectly good lunch options, and while HC is known for their cocktails, they serve great food, too. Now you just have to check to make they're open (as of this posting, I'm betting that they'll open in time for tomorrow night's dinner service, with maybe a lunch soft re-open).

      Thanks Sauce! :)

Between Lucky Devils and Hungry Cat, which one has the better ambience during Lunch, where you can sit back, relax and catch up on life? :)

Definitely Hungry Cat. It's tucked away from the main street, and so there's a lot less foot traffic. Also it's less touristy, again oweing to its semi-hidden nature.

Not sure when the brother is coming in to town, but HC seems to be a little behind in their remodel. Walked by today and still closed. Maybe open next week?

Los Balcones de Peru is walking distance to Arclight. I think you can park at Arclight and get validated.

    2. Another suggestion in case you don't have your mind set, is the Village Idiot on Melrose. Great food and a nice selection of spirits. My friend, who moved to the area, and I have really enjoyed ourselves each time we've went for lunch.
