My 15 year old son and I plan to attend the SUNY Albany vs St. Francis basketball game on Saturday. Would any local hounds suggest an informal but decent restuarant close by or one on the way to exit 19 of the Thruway.

Don't know if this thread will help. Sorry if you have to weed through a lot of posts by Albany alum reminiscing about their old hang-outs.

On Western Ave's side of SUNY Albany there are:

Peaches (a diner in Stuyvesant Plaza)
Via Fresca( http://viafresca.net A really good italian deli with affordable prices
)Sushi Tei (Japanese, also running a $1pp sushi eat in special)
Moe's (chain burrito place, but plenty of seating, and good value)

Maggie's Cafe would be a great choice for a teenage boy to chow down. It's recently been reborn with a sports theme but the food is a step above the usual. Here's a recent review: http://www.metroland.net/back_issues/...
