I had the most affordable and wonderful lunch today at Blue Parrot
Gear and Grill at 590 Washington Blvd (310) 577 5080. I ordered
the 2 taco combo, I chose ahi and salmon. It came with choice of
white or spanish rice and black or pinto beans. My wife ordered the
veggie quesadilla with beans and rice. With coffee and tea it was
$12.95 with tax. The fish is from Santa Monica Seafood and it is not
scraps, but a solid piece of fish with pico de gallo and dark green
lettuce (not iceberg). The beans and rice were tasty. The salsa bar
offered sauces from mild to scorching. The tortillas were fresh made.
They brought chips and salad on a seperate plate. The salad was very
fresh field greens with a nice homemade vinagrette. The quesadilla
had 2 types of squash, onion and cheese. The veggies were tasty and
fresh. This place has been open a few months and so far is quite
undiscovered. It is not authentic Mexican cooking but it does remind
me of the original Rebecca's in Venice but at a small fraction of the
price. I am going to be a regular here for sure. Between 4-7 PM
tacos are half price. This is the best new find that I have made in a
very long time. The decor is very Hawaii surfer dude but not in your
face. They even have Mexican and Hawaiian breakfasts. I am going to
be back alot!! Don't spread the word too much, it is a small place.

  1. My wife and I tried the Blue Parrot after reading your post, and we completely agree - we had mahi mahi tacos and a steak and vegetable burrito, and both were just great. Thanks for the heads up on this one!
