Has anyone noticed that on 30 Minute Meals, Rachael now exclusively uses her cookware. She used to use All-Clad before - is this all a part of the new FN store they have on the web?

Yes, and I'think they'd better be careful in two fronts. If their shows start looking like those silly infomercials, people will tune out. And I wonder if this could drive away potential advertisers with similar products.

yeah, all orange-y in the new set to match the cookware. which cookware, by the way, looks cheap in person (i saw it at kohl's dept. store). but it did not cost "cheap"!

I agree that the quality of the cookware seems suspect. I also checked it out at Kohls and was surprised at how expensive it is. The only piece that seems worthwhile is the oval stockpot but I balk at the $90 pricetag. For anyone that is interested, I have seen both her knives and a limited amount of the cookware at Costco.

I saw her cookware at Bed Bath and Beyond and was never really impressed by it. I really don't like the orange handles at all an I agree that the quality seems lacking. I like for pans to have some substance to them and these don't seem to.

My 26 year old niece was married Sept. 1st and she wanted the Rachael Ray cookware as part of her wedding wish list. I bought her the oval stockpot discussed above at Bed, Bath and Beyond for a shower gift. It was on sale and I had a coupon so got a good deal with it. I've used it once when sauteing ingredients for a double recipe of jambalya - and I liked it. It holds a lot - much more than it looks like it would - and made the preparation much easier than I expected.

well, that's good to know. sale price plus coupon is a good deal. how much did it end up costing -- IF you don't mind saying?

oh, also, why was the prep easier than you expected?

Was $63 or $67. Easier, because I thought I was going to have to saute in two batches. 2 lbs of sausage, 3 lbs of boneless chicken and about 3 lbs of shrimp - plus 2-3 cups each of celery, onions and green peppers. Add to that the chicken stock, tomatoes and rice (and of course the spices) and that's a lot of food - was 2 10"x14" pans worth once transferred to the pans and into the oven.

And I don't know that I'd call this a stockpot now that I think of it - it was the large oval pan with lid - about 5-6 inches high - will cover 2 burners on the stove. Regular price was $95 or $99.

What do you think of the quality of the pot? I like the idea of the oval pot and I haven't been able to find one in another line but as I said before, I was put off by the price. I hadn't thought about Bed, Bath and Beyond and the coupon so I appreciate the tip. For under $70, I am tempted to give it a whirl.

I liked it - is a nonstick surface - not too heavy but not too light either. My regular pots and pans are Calphelon - but I did like this for its unique shape and size and could see using it quite a bit. I'm very tempted to buy one for myself (if I could get another good deal on one).

I checked the Bed, Bath and Beyond website and they have 2 of her oval pots available. The one with orange handles is $79.99 and the other looks more like Calphalon and is $99.99. I believe they are both 8qt. I am going to wait for a coupon and then try it out. I like the idea of not having to break/bend pasta and I'm sure lots of other things would work well.

Well I'm sure most of the people buying Rachel Ray cookware have professional ranges at home :)

The square grill pan i have at home (the mario batali) is made of thick cast iron and enamel and you heat it up slowly and it still definitely has hotter spots.

I agree, I don't like how they are targeting her nonstick cookware to the novice chef. All the chefs on the FN used to use regular stainless all-clad and now that she is being commercialized, it is just getting to be annoying. Most chefs in restaurants do not use nonstick. IMHO, the only thing you need nonstick for is eggs! Can you tell I am anti-nonstick and getting to be anti RR.

I was tempted and actually bought her orange fondue set at Costco for about $40.
It seemed heavy and pretty good quality for the price, even though the little forks are made out of plastic, so I may have to buy different ones. I haven't used it yet, but I think it should be ok.
I also looked at the set of pots, but didn't like them. To me, they looked cheap :))))
