LOU on vine above melrose is cool(or was a short while ago), tapas and good wine selection, it's hidden in a mini-mall. Funky? Yep.

The Velvet Margarita for sure! Not sure about the size of your party but I know they have a private room upstairs. Usually very busy on weekends and they take reservations a week in advance (at least, I think). Aside from funky, the food is pretty good too.
