Phoenix to Sedona on Christmas Day

Bay area hound here, going on a road trip with my cousin and her husband who are visiting from Singapore. We are flying in to Phoenix on Christmas Day early morning and driving up to Sedona. Any suggestions for lunch / dinner on the way or in Sedona?

We are open to all sorts of food though my cousin does not eat beef. Something local / non-chain / ethnic and small is probably what we would enjoy the most but is the type of place most likely to be closed on Christmas. I searched a bit but did not find anything on the board or elsewhere on the web.

Any suggestions would be most welcome! Many thanks in advance!!

  1. I would call Elote and see if they will be open. We had a fantastic dinner there a few weeks back.
The resorts will always be open - Enchantment, L'Auberge, Los Abrigados. You won't find any bargains for resort dining on Christmas, but at least the resorts in Sedona tend to be on the smaller side.

p.s. I'm in India right now and connected via a long layover in Singapore. What a wonderful city! Can't wait to go back on my return fight.

Thanks so much I will try that.
Incidentally, I just got back from India with a longish layover at Singapore too :) My cousin took me to a lovely Roti-Prata place during my 8 hour layover.

    2. I'm pretty sure Heartline will be open for Christmas (in West Sedona). We ate there for Thanksgiving and it was excellent. Be sure to call ahead for a reservation.

Thanks so much, I will try out all the suggestions and post back!

      2. I don't think much will be open en route on the holiday. Nic's Steakhouse in Cottonwood is terrific (dinner only)--check to make sure they're open. The Heartline mentioned elsewhere is first rate, great owners, very popular with us who are lucky enough to live in Sedona! Reds at the Sedona Rouge is always good, and they have everything from small plates to full dinners, and often live entertainment. Since it's in a hotel, I would guess it would be open. Believe it or not, we have a great Asian restaurant, Szechuan, on 89A as well.
