zupa rybna, Polish Fish Soup

Does anyone have a recipe? My husband finally found out the name of his favorite dish from childhood, but I cannot come up with a recipe. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  1. You reminded me of this dish...here is the only recipe I could find (in English anyway...)

    1. I think this is one of those 'as many versions as there are grandmoms' recipes.

Here's one I found on line below.

Though I imagine you couldnt go too far wrong winging it by using the key items (fish, potatoes, onions, milk or sour cream) and then winging the add to's from there.. Me, I'd skip the broccoli and peppers and substitute green beans and maybe carrots in the below...

      Fish Soup
      2 big filets of fish
      4 small potatoes or macaroni
      1/2 head broccoli
      1 small green pepper
      2 cups of frozen peas
      1 big onion
      2 glasses of milk
      2 teaspoons of olive oil
      2 teaspoons of chopped parsley
      salt, pepper

Place whole fish in pot, add potatoes- pealed and diced and diced broccoli and pepper. Add peas, finely chopped onion and olive oil. Add enough water to cover the ingredients, add salt and pepper to taste. Boil about 20-25 minutes. When done, remove from stove and add milk and mix. Before serving add parsley. You can also add maggi.
