Anyone tried Bollyhood Cafe yet?

With chaat and other street snacks on the menu and what looks like the image of a dosa, plus reports of South Indian food at Sultan, things are looking up South Asian-wise in this town.

I went about 2 weeks ago on a Saturday evening. The service is a bit odd, but a little understandable because they are new. There really isnt any clear idea where to order food, whether someone will serve it to you, etc. Also, my order took forever to arrive, while my dining companians, who ordered after me, got their food. The food isn't bad, somewhat lacked flavor. But then again, I am Indian, so I may be looking for authenticity, which I felt was lacking. I had the fish curry which was displayed in a young coconut. I like the idea, thhe food and service have potential. I'll go again next month and report back.

Yes, I stopped in before the holiday break and had some nice appetizers and drinks.

We had ...

- Kingfisher, ON TAP! If you're a fan of indian beer, this could be one of the few places, if only place, in the city to get it on tap

- Minced Lamb on Sugar Cane. Very tasty, and a great little appetizer.

It'll be a fun place when they get everything up and running, hopefully including frequent DJ showcases.

It opened within the last month. There was a note about it in tablehopper this week.

They had a soft opening last Friday, I think. Part of the Baobab family. I will be visiting this place next week.

I tried to visit them for dinner yesterday, and apparently they are closed until further notice. Wanted to provide a quick update so other 'hounds are not disappointed.

That's odd. I happened to be walking by last Friday (the 14th) and they were open. My friend and I went in but only had drinks. I can't speak for the food but the space was large and inviting - a wide bar and two separate rooms filled with tables and chairs and couches.

Yes, they're listed in today's Thrillist as having a big New Year's Eve bash. Maybe the kitchen's not open yet.

Based on the incarnations of Baobabs, their strength is more likely drinks and atmosphere (and maybe bar snacks) than meals.

Some people on Yelp reported having eaten at this place, which prompted my visit. I'll just wait to go until I hear about it again here :-)

Have any 'hounds been here during their regular hours? Initial reviews on Yelp are not very encouraging.

I went to their New Year party it was off the hook. 3 locations and lots of Djs , bands etc it was really awasome
