Pickled Herring in Sour Cream in the SGV

I've been looking for this in stores and find it in small jars in Albertsons, Vons and Ralphs. I seem to long for pickled herring in either sour cream or wine sauce at this time of year but can't drive up to Solvang for a total fill-up. Trader Joes used to carry a very good brand but discontinued it.

Can you recommend any place in the SGV that has a good pickled herring, preferably in sour cream sauce where I can buy it by the pound rather than in the jar?

not sure about the SGV, but jon's carries it. also, most armenian and russian stores. there are several in pasadena. mostly by the jar, have not seen it by the pound for many years.

Your best bet is a Jewish style deli. Sorry I'm not aware of any in the SGV, but I can vouch for Canter's and Art's. Both of them do their own pickling

Thanks for the recommendations. I may make the trek to Art's (they sell it by the pound, I see on their website) but can't face the traffic to Canter's. Will also check out the Russian/Armenian markets in Pasadena before heading for Art's.
