Had a notably good meal at Sea Salt last night. Monkfish liver torchon with sea urchin and caviar ($12), clam chowder with bacon and cream ($9), grilled sardines ($12.50), bacon-wrapped grilled sturgeon ($22), gigantes with tuna confit ($10), broccolini with aleppo pepper ($6). The chowder and the and tuna-bean salad were as good versions of those classic dishes as I've had. Pricey but a good value considering the first-rate ingredients and execution.

The one time I ate at Sea Salt (in April) I was pretty impressed. My expectations had been shaped by posts on this board and they weren't that high. The monkfish torchon is amazing. Different preparation from yours last night though. No sea urchin on my trip.

The grilled sardines were another favorite of ours. They came with a salsa verde back in April.
The combo of the bright herbs and grilled rich sardines was perfect. I still think about it. A lot.

Good service and some well priced wines on the list. I too think the price/value quotient is quite good. I rarely spend my money dining out anywhere but in pretty inexpensive restaurants and felt very satisfied.

I have always wanted to go there and try it out but a lot of people I know aren't so impressed by it.

yesterday late afternoon I stopped in for a bite on my way to Albany. I had the grilled calamari with arugula pesto and gigante beans. The meal was great. I added a bit of salt to the pesto as well as a splash of lemon juice, but the combo was wonderful. Great presentation, and though I was one of two customers, the waiter was on it, not over it. .
I definetly want to go back and have the confit tuna with gigante beans, and the lobster roll

A lot of people don't know good food it seems. I've had nothing but great experiences there.

I have had consistently good food at Sea Salt. I usually go for brunch and there is never a problem getting in. I am a huge fan of the lobster roll which I think is the best around. I glad to hear that others are having similarly good experiences.
