Rural Alaska, suggestions, prices?

I'll be driving through rural Alaska next July. Possible itinerary: Anchorage, Talkeetna, Denali Park vicinity, Healy, Fairbanks, Delta Junction, Tok, Beaver Creek, Destruction Bay, White Horse, Skagway. Looking for suggestions for b&bs and meals near those places (on en route), and need some idea of prices for restaurant meals. thanks!

  1. Technically Alaska threads are supposed to go in 'Elsewhere', though they get lost among all of the Hawaii threads. The standard reference for travelers in this area is Mileposts. It mentions (or has ads) most establishments, especially in the small towns. Examples would be the historic road houses. B&Bs and road houses are likely to specialize in things like sour dough pancakes and massive cinnamon rolls.

If you are concerned about prices, plan on a number of picnics or some basic camping meals. Often it is easier to find an attractive park or rest stop than a restaurant.

    1. I was in Anchorage a couple years ago and the prices for lodging were a little lower than Seattle but pretty close. The restaurant food was pretty close to Seattle prices, too. In Fairbanks the restaurant seemed to be pretty Seattle priced though we really only ate at a couple places. I don't really have any exciting suggestions, though.

      1. I visited Anchorage this year... I really loved it! Here is links to help you!

Another resource that helped me was Yelp Anchorage.

        Hope this helps!
