Primorski Substitute in Manhattan ?

bobjunior Dec 11, 2007 07:10 AM

I searched the boards, I promise. I just couldn't find what I'm looking for and maybe its not out there but I figured I'd give it a try.

Group of eight (4 couples) were originally planning dinner party at Primorski in Brighton Beach. We can't foot it out there anymore so we're looking for something fun, festive, good (but doesnt have to be great food) that at least touches on that type of experience. Not fancy and not quiet/cozy but maybe an interesting ethnic dining experience or something with a bit of a more celebratory feel.

I'm not under the impression that I can find a replacement for Primorski (Russian dinner/nightclub) in Manhattan but my "group" searches came up with 'inoteca, otto, crispo, barbounia and some others that seem just like regular restaurants where 8 people can eat together. My only other caveat is we dont want "trendy" (Buddakan) type spots.

Any and all suggestions are MUCH appreciated as I was hesitant to bog the board down with more group dining requests.

I was going to suggest the Algonquin's Oak Room Cabaret until I re-read your post and saw the "not fancy" part. But just in case....

Perhaps, the Moroccan restaurant, Zerza? I've heard good things about the food, and they have a belly dancer on Saturdays.
