I found some great bargains at the wine sale AND they were marking select bottles down, like Dalle Valle, some Cos D'estornel, Pichon Lalande. They have some great German whites Pichler, Jos. J. Pruhm, and some awesome burgundies both red and white. I was there late in the day and still great deals!

I opened a bottle of Peter Michaels chardonnay last night from the sale and it was fantastic.

Just thought I'd give you the heads up.

I ended up buying some 2001 Ch Montelena "Estate" but the prices overall weren't as low as the last sale. I did see some "cult Cabs" like Hourglass, Bond, and Vineyard 29 as well as the usual big names: Diamond Creek, Shafer, Spottswoode.

I looked at their web site and can't imagine this sort of place handles much in the way of premium wines as posted by others. The sort of things they featured on their site are old bottles of Barefoot White ZInfandel and Manischewitz Malaga. I have not visited these stores, so perhaps one of the "regulars" here can indicate whether or not the Bargain Bank handles premium wines as posted???
Thanks.

I was in the Bargain Bank on Clement St.@7th Avenue yesterday. My guess is the vast majority of the high-end wines are being sold only at the Minnesota St. location.
There were some high-end wines at the Clement St. store, but it was a very small selection.

These high-end wines were sold by insurance companies. They got them from the flooded restaurants from the Katrina hurricane in New Orleans.

I've had a few bottles from the previous sale and they tasted fine. There did not appear to any damage from heat.

yes, this is a special sale of premium lots they got from new orleans restos and some other collection, silly cal cult cabs to la tache. 'emeril' label wines were present, so there's your clue.

and yes, minnesota st. only, tho i think clement had a few leftovers from the previous round.

unfortunately, balance is maybe 60/40 american/import, and little or no port, sauterne this round ;(

also, i think this round lasts only 1 wk.
