alternatives to the Keg

oi, so my friends decided last week they wanted to a pre-holiday get-together at the Keg Mansion, but surprise, surprise, they don't have room for a party of 10 on Dec 19 at 6:30pm. nor does the York St locale. now we have to change venues - the priority is to get an affordable good steak somewhere on the subway line that 25 year olds won't feel out of place. where to?

alas, i'd love either of those...but my companions want MEAT, so we're going with STEAK, formerly le Biftheque, on Richmond west of Yonge. say a prayer for my foodie arteries.

Le Biftheque can manage a decent steak, and the service there is usually pretty good. The only warning is stay away from the complimentary deep-fried croutons they always have out on the tables - you can break a tooth on those things.

Lemon - Senior's IS a steak house - sorry if I didn't make that clear.
Le Biftheque is a hole - a conventioneer's paradise of lousy meat, indifferent service, dreadful sides, large crowds and all the atmosphere of Grand Central at 5 pm.

Senior's is actually pretty good for a steak. don't overload on the pickels, garlic toast, cottage cheese etc as I tend to do and then forget the steak...and then get the gears from his daughter.

very good steak for the price.

Is the STEAK a "different" restaurant or just a renamed le Biftheque?

You would have a great time and all sit at one long table in an informal upstairs room at Senior's, right off the St Clair stop (s end, Pleasant Blvd exit) of the Yonge subway line. Eddie and his team will look after you like princes, they have very reasonable wine and steak prices, with much included, they'll keep the garlic bread coming, their meat is well aged and marinated - and you can be yourselves in an unpretentious atmosphere you will surely enjoy.

What about Beer Bistro? It's at Yonge & King, and fits the bill for price and vibe.
