Saw a sign today for Bi-Rite Creamery, a retail shop selling homemade ice cream made with Straus dairy products. It is part of Bi-Rite market but across the street, on 18th between Stem and Padilla Realty, just east of Dolores. The sign says it is opening this summer. Does anyone have more details?

The following appeared in the SF Chonicle on Wed. April 19th. Sounds promising..

"The owners of the successful Bi-Rite Market (3639 18th St., near Guerrero) will open Bi-Rite Creamery just across the street (3692 18th St., at Dolores) in July.

Sam Mogannam and Anne Walker have partnered with Kris Hoogerhyde, one Bi-Rite's pastry chefs, to create ice creams using Straus Family Creamery products. Salted caramel, roasted banana ice cream and prune Armagnac are just a few of the flavors to look forward to, not to mention fresh fruit sorbets and granitas.

The bakery kitchen, currently in the market, will move to the new location. "

sounds promising, and i like the sound of those flavors. could this, finally, be the kernel of truly chow-worthy ice cream in sf?
i'm imagining cars double parked along 18th on warm september evenings, and even the cold foggy august ones.
