East Village Pre Theater

We have a large group -- 9 people -- going to the NY Theater Workshop on 4th St between 2nd & 3rd -- need someplace for pre-theater on Friday night

In case anyone is looking for a prix fixe pre theatre dinner and finds this post using a search engine, Le Pere Pinard on Ludlow has a 3 course dinner for about $17. Quite good too when I tried it a year or so ago.

i'm delighted that you tried it and enjoyed it...it's rarely mentioned on this board (except by me) and i hope more chowhounds check it out...

Note sure if they can seat nine, I think so, but give Quartino on Bleecker (between Lafayette and Bowery) and Five Points (on Great Jones St.) a try. ACME is decent too.

Cacio e Vino...my fav E.Village Italian...varied menu sure to please chowhounds as well as less adventurous eaters : Sicilian specialties and wood-fired pizzas and great selection of antipasti (esp like the raw tuna w/ orange) and pastas, great wines, super friendly staff...it's a small place but they could do nine persons if you make a res...

but for you, a huge plus is the location: on Second Ave, just north of 4th St, so your commute to the theatre would be a 1 minute walk...
