Good solo lunch & dinner in Vancouver?

Organ Leroy Dec 9, 2007 02:39 PM

I'm in Vancouver for ten days on business, and I'm looking for interesting/funky/delicious spots (funky is not a prerequisite) where you don't feel like a freak if you show up alone with a book. A half decent beer/wine selection is a plus. Thanks!

Try Brix in Yaletown. I've eaten there with a book as my date. Good food and good wine list.

Boneta -- my fav restaurant in Vancouver...you enjoy your book or chat with the very friendly owners/staff...

Salt -- great wine and cured meat and cheese selection

Chill Winston -- comfy lounge seating w/ big windows, perfect for reading and people watching...

you could also have dinner at the bar at Chambar but it's a loud/dark for reading...

Bin 942 or Guu with Garlic would be fine at the bar as a solo, though probably too entertaining to read at.

The Guu is fine at the bar to eat solo, but forget about reading the book.

Guu for sure - the one on Robson / Bidwellis the best Solo dinner spot. Blend right in. So much to watch and hear. + the food is outstanding. Enjoy.

Thanks for all the tips. Keep 'em coming! I've been to Bin 941 and Guu on Thurlow so far, and both were great.

Zagros on Davie. Delicious simple Persian food.
