What Happened to California Garlic? [Moved from Home Cooking board]
Over the past year or more I've noticed that almost all the garlic in the markets, both large chains and small independents, is coming from China. The stuff from China is overly clean, lite for its size, weaker in taste, and doesnt store very long, all of which tells me its getting farily old by the time it hits the shelves. It frequently comes in net sleeves containing 3-5 heads, and is generally pretty bad.
California is the garlic capital of the world why cant I find California garlic in California stores?!?!
