Christmas in Miami Beach

The wife and i are coming from NY to spend Christmas in Miami. We just need a break. We will be there Dec 24-26 so hoping for a good place for Christmas Eve dinner and a Christmas Day lunch(in england where i come from its turkey-same as thanksgiving here). Failing anything special or specifically Christmas related that you think is good what are THE top places to go right now? cost no issue...Its christmas!

Thanks for your help.

  1. No easy way to tell what places are going to be open other than to call. If places are doing special Christmas meals, it's not well-advertised. Best bet is to call restaurants you're interested in and check if they're going to be open. Hotel restaurants are the most likely candidates.

Having said that, here's a couple places that are typically open on holidays and which are going to be open this Christmas Eve and Day ->

Chef Allen - North Miami - always does special holiday menus.
Mark's South Beach - open lunch and dinner, regular menu.

I haven't been to Chef Allen in years and think it's somewhat pricey and overrated, but the special event menus are always intriguing.
I've been to Mark's more recently and always enjoy it. Also pricey.

      Mark's South Beach
1120 Collins Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33139

      Chef Allen's
      19088 NE 29th Ave., Aventura, FL 33180

Chef Allen's Christmas Eve/Christmas menu is online.

Most restaurants on South Beach open for dinner on Christmas. (However, most are closed X-mas Eve) Lincoln Road gets very busy late afternoon on X-mas.

Best of the Road are AltaMar (West end
        Sushi Samba
        Le Bon
        Ice Box
        David's Cafe for Cuban

I would do a quick search on the board for Top recs in South Beach (Sardinia, Talula, etc, and call them to see if they will be open)

Marks is closed and he is now at the Regent Hotel....they are doing an all day buffet on Christmas Day. If it's anything like theThanksgiving Day buffet it should be great.

      2. Doh! Just received an email that gave me another good idea - check for christmas eve and christmas day and it'll show which places are open b/c you'll be able to book reservations. Opentable's Miami coverage is by no means complete but it's not bad.

        1. The rusty Pelican will have Christmas brunch, very nice place, champagne included, reasonable prices and not too far from Miami Beach - you can check the menu here and they will also be open for Dinner; lo I just realized , this post is a year too late;

          1. The Ritz in South Beach does a nice brunch Christmas Eve day and Christmas Day. Might be good for your lunch. We went a couple of years ago and liked it. Can't remember the price, but I remember the buffet had many choices and it was all-you-can-drink mimosas and/or champagne. We felt like it was a quintessential South Beach experience, around the pool with Christmas music blasting and tanning butlers hard at work!
