50th Anniversary: Looking for a special restuarant in cenrtal NJ or NYC [moved from Tristate board]

Hi you fellow Chowhounds,

Does anyone have recommendations on a place to celebrate a 50th wedding anniversary?
We are making a small party for our parents, about 8 to 12 guests. We are looking for a romantic setting with superb food. Ballroom type dancing would be an appreciated bonus. We are open to any suggestions. Perhaps you have a creative idea we haven't thought of?

We are located in the New Brunswick area of NJ and figure we could travel up to 1 and a half hours for the right place.

Thank you for your help,

Liz & Larry

Congratulations to your parents! What a wonderful occasion!
The Molly Pitcher Inn is a lovely place to celebrate a special event like a 50th Anniversary. It would also be wonderful to give them a gift certificate (and, of course join them) for their fabulous Sunday Brunch. If anyone is coming from out of town, it's a very nice (albeit pricy) place to stay overnight. We actually decided to do an anniversary brunch there instead of a dinner, because a number of our guests were older and felt more comfortable driving during daylight hours, and it was just perfect!
Wherever you go, have a great celebration!

Hi Liz and Larry. Please post queries for Manhatten, on the Manhattan board: http://www.chowhound.com/boards/18. The other boroughs belong on the Outer Boroughs board, here: http://www.chowhound.com/boards/19

      Thanks!

I've dined at the Chef's Table at Nicholas and can attest that it will not accommodate that size party. http://www.wineaccess.com/store/nicholas/newsletter.html?newsletter_id=99041
I would however suggest the wine cellar at David Drake however the most it can accommodate is a party of ten. Here is a link to a picture of the room and the special menu. http://www.daviddrakes.com/winecellar...
Ballroom dancing however will be a difficult request to satisfy.
        Good Luck.

Congratulations to you two! My husband and I just celebrated our 43rd anniversary at Restaurant Nicholas in Middletown, NJ. They have a Chef's table which is fabulous but I don't think it will accommodate that many guests. But the food and service are superb. They don't have a dance floor, though.
