French Macarons in OC?

digkv Dec 8, 2007 12:03 AM

Ever since I saw "Marie Antoinette" I've been obsessed with these delicious cookies. So far I've only been able to get them while vacationing in San Francisco and in Vegas. I would really like to find a place in Orange County that makes these: does anyone know of such a place? Thanks.

Thanks choctastic. I can't believe I've never heard of this place before. Do you know what flavors they offer? Thanks so much. I can't wait to go but I'm gonna have to wait as it's sort of far.

Don't bother. Last time I tried their Macarons, it was too sweet and stale!!

I haven't had them in at least a year, but at times they've been very good. Quality varies. Best flavor I remember is the praline. I've also seen chocolate, lemon and pistachio.

yeah the praline is my fave too. Pascal Epicerie used to be excellent but i noticed in the last cpoule of years that the quality has varied greatly. however, i can't think of any other places who do macarons off the top of my head, though I'm sure there's got to be someone else.

I saw some at Paris in a Teacup located in Old Towne Orange on Glassell Street. It is a new shop/tearoom. I did not get a chace to try them. They are imported from Paris. Everything in the bakery case looked yummy!

Olde Town Orange is really close to me so I'll definitely check it out. Thanks TeaMe but I wonder how fresh the macarons are.

This is the place...the macaroons look very similar to those I had in Paris. It will be the end of December before I can taste and report back! LEt us know how they are since you are sooo close!!!

Ok so I live about 10 miles away from Orange and I drove down there on Tuesday and it turns out they are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays but there was still a woman there so I called and she said that they were open tomorrow and that I should call in advance to see what flavor macarons they were making. So on Wednesday and today, Thursday, I decide to call ahead and they girl there says they don't serve macarons both days! Wow, now I seriously don't know what to do. I don't want to go down there again to find out the girl was telling the truth. But you say that they do serve them and that woman on Tuesday said so also.

I was able to try the macarons here. See http://www.chowhound.com/topics/469348 for my report.
