Is there better jerky than the place on Canal just W of Ludlow?

(S side of the st.)

If so would love to know about it. picked some jerky up from this spot earlier tonight and it was delicious (if not overly healthy).

I noticed a nice big Chinese sausage and jerky place at 111 Hester St. Didn't try it.

I like both Ping's and Ling Kee for the beef. The pork at Ling Kee is tasty when you're there but when it'd cold the globs of fat get congealed and gross.

Ping's is on Mulberry across from that Park? Block or 2 S of Bayard?

The Ling Kee was definitely fatty -- but we ate it quick and it was really good. It was my first Chinatown jerky experience, so I was wondering if it was best in class or one of many.

Will def try Ping's. Thanks for the tips.

ping's is kind of a funny place, its literally like someone's apt...there are kids doing their homework and watching tv and the grandparents and parents are sitting their making jerky

Yes, Ping's is across from Columbus Park, close to the intersection of Bayard and Mulberry, a few doors from the parking garage. If you're into $1 dollar dumplings, you can hit two spots too, one down the block on Mulberry and one around the corner on Mosco.

I prefer New Beef King's Spicy Wet (Beef or Pork) Jerky. Ping's has a terrible odor inside - the same smell inside that you used to find as a kid when you went to visit some old Aunts who never left their house.

I have heard many good things about Ling Kee, but have not tried it yet.

New Beef King on Bayard Street is a very attractive store and looks clean and efficient, but there is a strange consistency and flavor to what I prefer.

I hear there is a Malaysian variety at 95A Elizabeth Street, but again have not yet tried.

However, regardless what you hear and whatever any naysayer tells you........

Ping's as it is known to me or Jung's Dried Beef on Mulberry has been the official and undisputed King for my family for nearly 50 years for dried beef and pork. Any person who has ever sampled and experienced Ping's/Jung dried beef through my family, no mater what ethnicity has absolutely loved it and whenever a trip is made to Chinatown, a request is always made for a side trip to purchase from Ping's. I have several friend's who have it FedEx delivered Overnight. My group of golfers who travel a few times a year, always request a minimum of one pound per person for the trip.
