Glad I caught this post...I just had a lovely shrimp risotto with saffron at Artie's on City Island. Most of their other seafood offerings are good too. The best, however, is the seafood risotto and pasta at La Fontanella in Pelham, which is more upscale...

re: jaymor
gutreaction, it looks like Artie's is 'my' kind of seafood place! I'm still looking for one that serves more than a lobster for the price, something along the line of Gosman's, which I didn't know was mediocre until I read it here.
I can only remember going to Lobster Box on CI.
Artie's serves salad, potato AND veggie for the price of the entree. Holy cow!
The menu seems to my liking, how is the quality? Thank you for mentioning it.

re: dolores
delores, in my opinion Artie's is the more creative spot on City Island. Their daily blackboard specialties are a delight, portions are quite generous, and prices are more reasonable than the others on the strip...What you don't get is a water view, but the quality more than makes up for it!

re: GIOny
hello folks......it's been almost a year today since i made this post....still havent been to artie's....but i went to spiga's last month and sad to report that the seafood risotto there was not to my liking.....it was as if they just mechanically just poured marinara sauce on some noodles and put some boiled scallops and shrimp and something else and served it...and viola risotto!!....sorry, but no thanks.
