  1. Do a search under Malibu and you'll find tons of threads on every place there.

Here is just one of them:

    1. Geoffrey's in Malibu is very romantic and waterfront. Might be a little pretentious and expensive for some but hey, that's Malibu for you.

This is where I proposed to my ex-wife. Good and bad memories :-)

      1. Saddle Peak Lodge.

        1. You might want to give serious consideration to the newly opened Terra. Here is a previous review from the LA board: http://www.chowhound.com/topics/457273 and it also had an excellent review in the LA Times which called it romantic and praised the food as well.

I also notice this review from EaterLA: http://la.eater.com/archives/2007/09/...

          1. Either Geoffrey's or Saddle Peak will be great. Very different vibes; the former is more understated elegance (at least, by L.A. standards) with lovely patio seating; the latter is spectacular in-your-face frontier Americana yet they pull it off amazingly. Both have great food.

I think the food is better and more interesting at Saddle Peak, but the view from the patio at Geoffrey's on a nice warm day is lovely. I guess my decision would rest on whether I was looking for lunch or dinner and the weather.

            2. inn of the seventh ray (malibu adjacent in topanga) is the most romantic place around there, plus the food is good - so you get atmosphere and food. the food is MUCH better than geoffrey's which i think is just ok - but really overpriced and also only good on warm days if you get a good table. otherwise, it's a total waste of time.

also - moonshadows is really nice if you sit on the patio outside. the food, again, is not spectacular, but the environment is nice.
