Cool place for a meal with my 21 year old daughter

elgordo Dec 7, 2007 06:06 AM

We're visiting Manhattan for a week's vacation in February. I'd like to take her to a really cool vegetarian restaurant for lunch/dinner.What do I mean by cool? Well good decor, friendly service and some (not necessarily live) music ... not forgetting interesting choice of food!
Any suggestions?

Definitely Gobo. And it's in a cute area, too, so you can walk around before/after.

For fabulous vegan food in a hip looking room, I'd definitely go to gobo (I think you might want to drop the "live music" part of your request, as offhand I can't think of a place for it).

Counter on 1st ave and 7th

Candle cafe on the ues is good too, though not really very cool

Pure food and wine on Irving place is certainly interesting and cool, though I dont think there is music. It's vegan and everything is raw.

Pure Food and Wine is great, especially the tasting menu. Candle 79 is also enjoyable - but these are also "upscale" vegetarian dining places. I am not sure if they are "cool".
