    1. The Brat Stop in Kenosha, WI if you're heading through Chicago.

      1. Try Chili John's in Green Bay - it is an institution. Tastes a bit like Cincinnati chili, if you know what I am talking about.

        1. For dinner on Saturday night you could try the Hinterland. It's very good. It's a GastroPub. From what I understand it is a European term and is a fine dining restaurant.

          1. You're going to want to stop between Chicago and Milwaukee, since north of Milw. there isn't much at all till you hit Green Bay. The Brat Stop in Kenosha (already mentioned) is a good choice south of Milw. Just off I-43 north of Milwaukee there are two possibles. At the Silver Spring exit (in Milw, north side), take a right off the ramp and stop at Kopps Frozen Custard. Jumbo, and I do mean jumbo, burgers and frozen delights. At the Brown Deer exit (a couple miles north of Silver Spring again right off the ramp in the shopping center on your right) Benjamins Deli, very very good corned beef, a classic deli.

If you're hungry on the South Side of Chicago, a bit off the tollway at 95th and Pulaski is a Portillo's for dogs and Italian beef. If you're taking the Skyway thru, you won't be able to get to 95th st. very easily, so I'd not try that.. I'd search the Chicago board for other south side items.

Don't have much to offer on the eastern end of your trip between Chi. and Detroit. Our 'tank' is usually full by then.

by the way, the Ryan, and the Bishop Ford freeway, are both done with construction, I believe.

I don't know how bold you feel in Chicago traffic, but I've done the Skyway up the Ryan, gotten off on Lake Shore Dr. up Columbus dr. Ontario. Ontario is one way west to a Portillo's with a drive thru and then Ontario feeds you right onto 90/94.
