Loved Amalia and like Indochine. Amalia is the more expensive restaurant and might be a better bargain for RW. Have not been to either during RW though.

Hey, G3B,

How recently have you been to Amalia? We were there in January, not long after they opened, and we really liked the food. However, a few months ago, the executive chef, Ivy Stark, left, and there have been some reports that the food has gone downhill. That's what has kept us from going again. I'd love to hear otherwise because the staff was terrific, and it's a great space.

Unfortunately it has been a while since I have been to Amalia, we went in March and had a fantastic dinner. Both food and service was wonderful, have not been recently though. Maybe someone else can chime in on a recent experience.

Perry St. and the Modern were both very very good....

How about steakhouses? are any of the ones on the list any good? well, obviously smith and wollensky and a few ofthe others are, but theyre only serving lunch and i need dinner ressies :) delmonico's? nick and stef's?

Is Gram. Tavern worth going as well Eleven Park? Or any other options that a cheap student wouldn't normally be offered access? Asiate?

I always recommend the Danny Meyer joints for RW. They usually offer more choices then some restaurants. AND, bonus for starving students, they often present you with a gift card at the end of lunch, for the cost of RW lunch, which you may use at a later date.

i completely agree. Im on a student budget too and i would say that gramercy tavern and union sq. cafe are two of the best meals. I wasnt wowed by EMP, but i think im in the minority. I would definitely definitely recommend The Modern and perry street as well. Megu is fairly impressive and if you spring for the wagyu ( 10$ supp when i was there), is absolutely delicious

I might skip places that do lunch prix fix specials year round, like Tocqueville, Devi, Perry St, etc.

Danny Meyer places always do it right in my experience.
