Italian/California fusion suggestion?

My boss will be visiting from Los Angeles on Monday and has asked me to pick a restaurant for our office (6 people) to have dinner. She likes Italian food, but not the classic Italian - more of a fresher, lighter style.

North Beach is nearby, so anywhere in that area or the Financial District would be great. Anyone have any suggestions?

Most likely in that area Perbacco would be your best bet. Not sure if I would call is fusion but their dishes range from various regions in Italy with some Provence offering a lighter style from Classic American Italian.

Delfina does Cal-Ital the best, but it is in the Mission.

Acquerello does a great, more formal italian style.
