Meeting 2 friends next week for a Christmas lunch. One friend is a consumate foodie and the other one likes plain roast chocken and not much else! Any suggestions for a nice but not too trendy menu and some atmosphere? Thanks in advance.

  1. Henrietta's Table. Will have everything you seem to want, plus most of the food is local. It's in the Charles Hotel. The other roast chicken I love is at Rendezvous in Central, but I don't know if they do lunch.

    1. Redbones isn't exactly "nice" but I adore their straight up roast chicken, just melt-off-the-bone tender and very, very tasty. Also certainly has "atmosphere."

      1. Sel de la Terre is nice for lunch. No roast chicken, but some simple chicken options, and great service in a nice atmosphere.

        1. Locke Ober. I think Grill 23 and No. 9 Park serve lunch during Xmas time. Doesn't Upstairs on the Square serve lunch? That would be festive but maybe too trendy.

          1. I second Henrietta's Table.
