...and other such food gifts

What I really want to know here is where to get fun and interesting food items for others for the holidays. I know this topic has been beat to death, but I figured I'd check to see what's current. I'm looking for unique ideas, but nothing too expensive. I would like to find common food/food related items that most middle-class people would like (not just bury in the back of the pantry until discarded), as well as the more exotic for some upper-class types. Thanks.

Artisanal has a 3, 6, or 12 month cheese program.

Tea afficionados will enjoy Marshall's Honey. It is affordable and you can put your own package together.

Another idea is sending a cookbook per month over a period of time. Find out the cuisines they enjoy and give them a book each month with delicious recipes to try. You can do this through Zooba to save extra money. For instance, sending cheese with a corresponding book or a jam or honey is really neat.
