quiet enough dinner for a 40 year reunion?

I have waited 40 years to get back in touch with an old friend. We are slated to eat dinner together in the general Chelsea area - but does not have to be right there. Is there a restuarant that is actually quiet enough to have a long conversation on a Tuesday night?
Thanks so much for your suggestions.

Tocqueville would be perfect-quiet, elegant, excellent.

15 East (sushi) works as well...same people who have Tocqueville

If you are ok with their unique set menu, (and by set, I mean what you get is what they serve) Marchi's would be ideal. The perfect setting for a reasonably priced, multi course 'home style' dinner in relaxed, no rush, non noisy, surroundings. Not having to deal with a menu is very freeing and gives you that much more time to just talk.
I have sat there for 3 hrs and never felt rushed by the staff. The meal can be eaten as quickly or slowly as you determine. You will be satisfied, but not stuffed to the gills.
      Here's their site.

Thanks for your ideas. However, I think I prefer some place in Chelsea or the Village- certainly on the West side.

Tocqueville and 15 East are both located in your requested vicinity.
