Fried Chicken and Cole Slaw Sandwiches in Oakland
I've heard raves about fried chicken and cole slaw sandwiches, served in Oakland, at a bakery I believe. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? They have big, plump homestyle cookies as well. I think the bakery is in the 51st and Telegraph area, but am not sure. Please tell me where to find this place!

Bakesale Bette's @ 51st and Telegraph. It is a wonderful sandwich. Be sure to get a cookie or two and an apricot/almond scone.

I believe they are %5.99/sandwich and it's a very large sandwich. My wife and I usually split one. BTW, her potpies to go (take home and bake) are also wonderful.

I think the sandwiches are up to $7.25 now- they were $6.50.
They're worth every penny. Huge! And fantastic!

Get there before 2:00. I stopped in @2 last week, and they'd already run out. They said they usually run out by then.

Today in addition to the fried chicken sandwich Betty had roast beef & horseradish, egg salad with arugula sandwiches on the menu.

The egg salad is also awesome, always get one of those when available along with the fried chicken.
